"St Augustine" February 2007...

The celebrations are over. I arrived to my half century, and now I need to keep on going. Life it has been very good for me, and I am very grateful to God every day. I cannot ask for more. Every day I appreciate what a gift Comunita Cenacolo has been in giving me this new life and for all the goodness I see God do every day. The life in Community continues with its normal ups and downs as the men work on changing their lives, but we always see progress and we learn everyday something new. I feel that our guys here always need extra motivation because they have the tendency to get lazy. My job is to keep on pushing. We have always people coming for orientation. Ours days are always full. The last person who enters the gate is a mirror of who we were before! It is always very good for us to see this.

Sean's father has been visiting because Sean had some medical problems. He will go home to recover, do his verifica, and then he will go to Europe. While Dennis is here, he is busy helping out at Mary Immaculate. It's good to see him want to jump right in and help. Jay's mom is also here doing her experience with her son. It is always very interesting to see the relationship between a parent and a son from the perspective of the community. Bob W. is still here helping with the project of Maria Goretti. We are very appreciative to him. He is a big help in many ways. One is that he is saving all of us a lot of time by getting the supplies and materials that we need. He is getting a good taste of the Community. One day he was sharing with me that in the beginning, when he first was here, he thought that he knew a lot about the Community, but now he is realizing how much more he can learn from life in Community. He is really living it! It is nice for the guys to have this father figure around, because a parent in Community does not only think about his son but thinks about everybody.

We have had guys and girls on verifica. Dan N. just finished, and he is back in FL. Susanna just went back to Italy. Jon Paul is in CA for his visit, and he sounded very good when I spoke with him.

Videos and photos are available in the "news" page, thanks to our tech Dorothy. Take a look and you get a sense of Mother Elvira's birthday and see some of the guys and girls in Europe. Sorry if took us some time to put it up, but they were very large files! We hope to really improve our site which has great info, but need a refreshment.

The spring retreat has been set for March 30-April 1 at Camp St. John. Information had been sent by email. Contacts your Regional Leaders. The retreat is also open to people that want to know more about Cenacolo.

At St. Maria Goretti the work is continuing. Every day you see progress. The only concern is the cost. For sure we can always benefit from help for this special project which eventually will help so many girls. The guys are doing great quality work. You will see it when you will have a chance to visit.

Ernesto and Christof got back from the conference in Denver where they gave very good testimonies. Everyone was really pleased with them. Almost two thousand people attended to the conference.

In Lourdes the Community presented the show, "Light in the World." It was incredible. The first day there was 2500 people. Then on the day of Our Lady of Lourdes, 6000 people were in the Church of St. Bernadette, where they did the show. I spoke with the guys from house there. They said that before the show all 60 guys went to the grotta to pray all dressed up in their costumes. Everybody kept looking at them, taking photos. What an incredible testimony to God's love to think about who these guys were before they came to the Community.

News from Peru: Sister Jennifer parents just got back from a month's visit. They were very touched and impressed. A lot of things changed in the two houses -- more kids, buildings going up. The missionaries are very tired, but happy. They are giving a hundred percent, and they do not have any breaks, but nobody is complaining.

Carlo and Shannon and kids are back in the States for a visit and will go back to Europe.

Lent is coming up. Please make some sacrifices, as your son and daughters are doing. It is good for them, and it is good for you, too!

Ciao!
