What everyone of us is looking for is true friendship: truth, honesty and love. The Lord himself has given us the nostalgia of communion and friendship among us; He has put in us the nostalgia of good, of understanding, how knowing how to love, forgive and to start again with joy. A beautiful life, a true life is made real with the small things. Our boys and girls are happy because they discover that they’re good. And everyone of us has received the huge gift of the conscience, which tells us the truth, even when we are bad, we can re-think, our conscience tells us what to do: asking forgiveness! Everyone makes mistakes and it’s natural but we don’t have to keep a long face or be angry or want revenge. Our Community is one in which we wish each other well and we do so through our poverties, because we all make mistakes and no-one has the authority to point the finger. When we come to Community we make known our little things, we don’t look at who is the best, who is most intelligent or who works the most… we make known what humiliates us, our mistakes, our poverties, our failings and we let God forgive us and unite us, making us family. How many betrayals have our youth lived, how many hidden tears they’ve cried: it’s there where the fears, the mutism, the loneliness and the sadness came from. To make our young boys and girls happy, it’s enough to to make them meet what they are searching for: peace, truth without masks, strength to live, goodness, humility, patience, knowing how to forgive each other… in one word: Christian life! The youth of our Community has discovered and experienced the meaning of the difficulty to work, God’s mercy, love, true friendship among them and respect. They’ve got to know each other, helped each other, and have seen that life really wasn’t just what they were living before, they’ve met boys and girls like them who wished them well without hidden interests, who corrected each other and were anxious not to let a brother fail and to fight so that, at all costs, they wouldn’t retourn to the darkness of their past. All of this is friendship! And without even thinking it’s born in them this love for life: thinking of the others God has given them this love for a new life. So we learn from our youth that our true wellbeing, our happiness isn’t that which makes us exhalt, but it’s to be brothers and sisters, friends, without ambitions to get to who knows where, but alone! Happiness is made of simple things, small things which make our heart feel good.
