May

The month of May is situated in the time of the explosion of spring: we are immersed in the joyful reawakening of nature, in the beauty of creation that embraces again humanity with flowers, colors, green, blue, the sun… the month of May is the month of Mary, who was the springtime of God, the beginning of the new humanity regenerated in the love of God. Her “here I am”, her obedience to the Holy Spirit brought again living hope, true joy in the midst of us.
Today we should also make space for the Holy Spirit: lets open the doors to him! We need the love of God and we search for it, but the love is inside of us, because we are made in the image of God: we are love, we are immersed in the Spirit of Love.
All of this we believe with Mary, like Mary, for Mary who was the obedient handmaid of the Holy Spirit. With Her we say to God: “Let it be done unto me according to Your Word”. Mary passes discreetly in the midst of us with humility, in silence, and gathers in all of our desires and needs, carries them in her heart and prays for us and with us. Our Lady teaches us that all is possible for he who believes, that nothing is impossible to God!
In many years of life with the youth and with the poor we have understood that to live healthily, in joy, in friendship, there’s only one thing to do: one needs to live the love, say it, sing it. There is no more important and powerful attitude than love, that love in which truth was born: this is why we propose to our youth the “knees” bent in prayer to meet the Truth and the Love, that is Jesus. Without this meeting we are not capable of smiling, crying, or gestures of goodness, of mercy, of patience, of light.
This year the month of May concludes with the feast of Pentecost, the feast of the descent of the Holy Spirit in the Cenacle: we are in the time of the Holy Spirit! For this let us  be invaded by this light, by this love, by his presence: all that we need of is the Holy Spirit. He is the giver of gifts and he desires to give us extraordinary gifts: he wants to work the transformation of our hearts, of our past, he wants to heal the deep  roots of suffering from which we come to give us peace with ourselves. Let us invoke Him in this time with insistence: He who descended upon Mary and the Apostles, will descend upon us and will make us new men and women, risen with Christ.

Come Holy Spirit, we are in need of being reheated by your fire.
Send your light in those dark and empty “zones”
That we still have inside of us
Because we want to be serene men and women,
In peace, trusting, capable of smiling, of speaking,
Of making dialogue, of asking forgiveness.
Come, because only You can enter and reawaken in us
The nostalgia of good, the need of the living meeting with you.
Come Holy Spirit, Come to us for Mary!
