 The Festival of Life is to celebrate life, but not life in general but even better, to celebrate your life! Take this your life into your hands and acknowledge it for the precious, important, one of a kind gift that it is.
We are called to live our lives to the fullest. There is something great inside of us that we can’t even imagine; there is a profound and precious world to discover and develop.
We must start by giving thanks and not by being angry with ourselves; rage, anxiety, and fear are not good for our life. We must learn to do simple analyses, like the men and women of the Community, so that we can come to recognize from which fruit tree we are.
Sometimes we are like the weather that changes: from the bright sun comes joy and from the black clouds comes rage and jealousy. We are a fragile nature. We shouldn’t be amazed by our weaknesses, by the changes of our well being. We shouldn’t be quick to blame ourselves or others. There is no reason to put fault on anyone: it is your moment of fragility and you need welcome it and overcome it. But we must reflect because this is an ideal occasion to know ourselves and more importantly to accept ourselves, and finally to love ourselves for whom we are.
We must always striver for a life of truth, because it is from there that real liberty is found.
It is this that we teach to the men and women who are always hiding and telling lies. Today they are learning to live a transparent life, so that everyone can see who they are, wounds and all. They learn that life is more precious than anything, it worth more than all the millions in the world.
The Community is a family of God, upon this hill there are 24 years of crosses, pain, blood, confusion, and struggle; daily battles for life, joy, and resurrection. All who arrive here at this gate finds Mercy, finds God; not medicine or therapy. There are no pills that can give you the joy to live. There is no methadone that can bring you hope for a new life. There is no medical cure that can make you embrace your life and realize that is a gift from God.
The Comunità Cenacolo is a festival of lives reborn, a celebration of a creation that had turned into confusion, rage, tears, vengeance, and sin but through God’s Mercy it has become a smile, joy, light. . . the light that we have in our eyes today after a few months, years in Community, the same light that you families are seeing after several years of darkness. This light allows you to see that there has been a change, that God has saved us and life is being reborn, a new story is starting in our life.
The angel Gabriel said to Mary, “Nothing is impossible with God”, even with a womb that is sterile and elderly, like that of Elizabeth, can give life.
“Nothing is impossible with God”: even from the wombs of our families, that were for all purposes “elderly” because of sadness, because of sin, because of division, because of arguments, because of our child’s drugs; even from there life can be reborn. It is 24`years now that Comunità Cenacolo puts on this festival to celebrate the God that loves life, the God that has done miracles in our lives and will continue doing so in the lives around us. “Nothing is impossible with God!”
