...from Argentina

Buenos Aires Argentina December 7 th 2006
Dear Mother Elvira and everybody,
Last night I flew from Lima in Peru  to Argentina: I left the sisters, the aunts , uncles and many children astonished by the escalators, the planes and the colours of the airport which they had never seen before. We spent the last two days  all together in Juan Pablo II fraternity: all the members of the Peruvian family were there.
What a joy to see the great dining-hall nearly full of life already! Just one year has passed! On Tuesday we baptised 15 “children”:  there were many friends  and final “pizza”: I was struck by the attention and silence  with which they lived that moment and how they got involved!
Yesterday afternoon we were around Jesus and  we greeted  after a beautiful adoration with lots of prayer, blessings, tears of friendship and a felling of unity that you could  almost touch. Those days we ran from the sand of Villa Salvador to the stony mountains of “Juan Pablo II”: intense days of listening, dialogues, confessions, baptisms, catechesis. Moments full of God’s grace and important meetings to continue the growth of our love and service for the kids.
Lots of things can be done better, lots  must be learnt and this is the beauty of our way of living our  faith because it gives meaning to our service and to our actions.
It was very hard not to cry at the airport when our dear sisters started singing the unfailing “Jesus loves you” while I was greeting and hugging them, the aunts, the uncles and the children: to leave them in a place where they fight hard every day to build something beautiful, a seed of hope among so many difficulties and sacrifice, fills my heart with joy and gratefulness to God and the Community and makes me love the missionaries in a special way. I have never thanked God like in these days  because the Community and Mother Elvira are so brave to trust us youth, to believe in our qualities, in the good thing we have inside us, in our way to live sacrifice
Sometimes we run the risk to consider as normal the sight  of happy youth, with clean eyes, able to give  themselves to the others….but in these days my heart was full of astonishment, even if I had to” shampoo” someone, to correct somebody: the Cenacolo Community is God’s miracle.
Thank you for your prayers: I always feel guided, protected, loved…and even fresh!!!
This morning I am in Argentina: it’s like  passing from Purgatory or better from the  Peruvian  sort of Hell to Paradise, from chaos, bad roads, shantytowns, stones and sand, from the unbeatable air of Lima to rich vegetation and wonderful sun, the Argentinean sun.
At home I was happily surprised to meet a group of Argentineans youth who walk with us :the first thing that came to my mind was:” We are here for them, this is the present God gives us to celebrate the first anniversary  of this house.”
Tomorrow we will celebrate the Immaculate Conception. There will be a feast in the afternoon with songs, the Mass, testimonies and the show:” The Prodigal Son”. Saturday will be a special day to thank  the closest friends of the house.
We will be very close to your joy and to the Paradise’s to thank the Father together for the gift of Mary, whom we celebrate for her inner beauty, the very beauty that allowed God to be “God with us”. At last God found in Nazareth ,in a small house, a young girl, Mary, who uttered a brave “yes” and ever since  history changed. We are able to know  the true face of our God who, through Jesus, becomes one of us, our brother and our friend.
I hug you while my heart feels happier and happier to belong to God and to you for ever.
Love and happy feast!
                                                                     Father Stefano and everybody
