News from the mission

Dear all, some news from the mission of Villa El Salvador , Perù. The time of the Christmas holidays has just passed and like every year it has been full of life! A period of " chocolatadas " as they say here , people who come to bring toys , panettone and chocolate for our children . But this year we tried to explain to our friends and the  people who wanted to come not to bring games, but things that may be more useful as diapers , milk for the kids and groceries. And so it was, but we never thought that we would be  taken seriously by everyone! The people who came to see us were impressed by our children , how we live, and they passed the word to others , and so for the entire month of December, there was a continuous passage of people: some just unloaded the car in front home, greeted us and went . Providence has left us once again with our mouth open ! It was so nice because we were able to share with so many others what we have been given . On Christmas Eve we knocked on the doors of our neighbors offering food and panettone, also to a dear friend of ours who works at the hospital where they organized a " compartir " for single mothers prostitutes . We filled the baskets that poor Father Simon as always leaves, during the whole of Advent, at the entrance of the church and then gives them to the people who need. Then we went into a house " hogar " of children that has just opened not far from our place: we loaded the car with Providence and we went to see them . It was nice to see their faces when along with everything else  they saw the turkey, for them a great tradition for Christmas day : they were overjoyed ! This period was also full of surprises for some of our children : some are back with their families and Bruno one of our older children , who arrived at two weeks of life ,now at the age of three has finally found an adoptive family . It's great to see how these kids  wait for the moment of the encounter, with what great joy and confidence they call Mom and Dad two people whom they do not know , but from whom  they expect so much already : what a story! So someone goes but others come with us: Sara , a month, Alejandra , fifteen days , Flavio , one year and ten months and Stephano , one year and seven months , other faces and other lives join the rest of the tribe that the Lord has entrusted to us . We thank the Lord and you dearest Mother Elvira for this great gift of being able to be here in the Mission, to learn to love and serve each day : to love and serve life , the little ones and the sisters with whom we live. Life is Beautiful ... and mission in life even more ! Thanks and a hug from the whole gang of Villa El Salvador !
