Honorary Citizenship

Mother Elvira has been invited by the town of Cherasco, near Turin, to be awarded the Honorary Citizenship for ‘All the love given to the entire world’.
After being saluted by the local band, the Ceremony for the awarding of the Citizenship took place in the old hall of the Local Council: the Mayor Pier Luigi Ghigo and the Councillors  explained the reasons for the award and then it was Mother Elvira’ turn.  She thanked everyone and talked about what God has wanted to do through her work in these years, particularly in this area.  In fact it was here that in 1995 the COMUNITA’ inaugurated, in the hamlet of San Giovanni, the brotherhood ‘Regina Pacis’ thanks to the generosity  of our close friend  Don Rinino Bartolomeo, a genuine Cheraschese, who donated the COMUNITA’ the house where he was born.
After being thanked by father Angelo and the General Vicar of the Diocese of Alba  Father Giancarlo Gallo, we moved to the theatre of the town where the ballet group ‘Maschere’ made up of the boys and girls of the COMUNITA’, danced and talked about their experiences. The same did the Sisters who sang to the notes of ‘God provides’ and ‘Let’s rejoice’.
A special thanks also goes to those who 11 years ago wanted this COMUNITA’ to come to this area, to those who welcomed us and made us feel at home right from the start.. When the first boys and girls came here it was winter  and as soon as they got into the house they found the stove on: the warmth they felt in that small kitchen reflected the love and generosity of the people of Cherasco.
