“Give of Yourself for Them to Have Food”
Dear Comunità Cenacolo Family, some of us siste rs and priests, along with Mother Elvira, received a great gift to be here during the Medjugorie Youth Festival. Saturday was a day dedicated to Comunità Cenacolo and an opportunity to give testimony to our resurrected lives in Community. Many audacious youth have remained under the hot sun listening to the living word of God to help them in their walk. Testimonies were given by Don Stefano, two youth, Filip and Antonia, and also by Maurizio and Paoletta and their 14 children. The theme was “What Matters is Faith that works Through Love” (GAL 5,6) and it was the focus of their testimonies. The Faith of Mother Elvira in our destroyed youth in which everyone else had given up hope; the faith in Jesus that has permitted everyone of them to change their life and that helped them every day to be faithful with the gift of their new lives, giving that to whomever Jesus puts besides them; everyone repeated in their testimony saying “Jesus I love you, I am happy. I am able to love my brothers and my sisters, my spouse and my children”. In the evening was the recital, lived by the women and men of Community with all their heart and soul. Every scene transmitted the life of Jesus. We are now contemplating in Medjugorie these days in which the girls and guys “give of themselves to have food” without hesitation, along with everything that life asks of them, giving every day of their lives for the recital, the house and the pilgrims. But at times still poor and wounded, they give their lives to Jesus to complete their life with those that hear and see them. In all this our Lady is present. We see that there is a mother that sustains them and accompanies them. Here at Medjugorie we can clearly see this happening. Mother Elvira, already always very joyful, continues to live with joy, stepping outside to offer the pilgrims everything that she has, as always giving everything, so that also “they have food” to the end and with even more joy as they ask for her prayers and her blessing. All of this life in her spurs us to want for ourselv es to be more of a part of this life. Mary tells us now is our moment to “give of ourselves so that they have food”. We leave you all with words from the parish of Medjugorie spoken at the end of our recital: “I remember a phrase of Mother Elvira speaking about the guys and girls of Cenacolo that Fr. Slavko loved to repeat 'They are pearls that were dirtied in the mud. Once they were cleaned, they returned to be pearls. This evening we have seen these pearls'”. Thank you Jesus for the resurrection of our guys and girls that we have contemplated. Thank you Mary because you are beside us. We want good for all of you and we offer to our Lady because she embraces you and holds you close to her heart – especially today when remember her birthday. We wish you all the best.
