Finally I have some time to write a new message. It has been, as always, a pretty busy time, but on top of it we had so much rain in the last 4 days in this area. We had a foot of rain, so you can imagine the condition of our farms. The grounds are all flooded. For the guys it is difficult, because we had to work inside. That means no hard work, just sanding crosses, making rosaries, and doing inside duties. The head spins at these times, but we can not do anything because outside is just raining. After this storm we will be attacked by all the mosquitoes in the area, very typical of Florida. Our purgatory will begin, the famous Florida summer sauna, hot, humid and tons of mosquitoes.
Mosquito repellent is needed from now all the way through September. If you choose to send some, please make sure it is not the kind that bakes the skin in the sun or that causes skin problems. The guys have to spray it on them every day, and they work all day in the hot sun, so it’s important. Even with this weather things are calming down, and the feeling in the houses is good. For sure the therapy for those that left and returned really helped, because now they are doing better and seem more in peace especially Mitch and Dan P. It is so special to see how the guys reach out to help the guys that are struggling. The Community brings out the best in everyone. It allows the good that is inside to come out, and we see so much real caring for each other and wanting good, wanting life, for each other. It is so good to see how these guys, that the world said are worthless and can never change, work so hard to give life to each other in their weakest moments. At the girls house, they had so much rain that the yard just looks like a big pond, but the girls seem to be doing well so far. We are welcoming the lastest new girl, Erika, from GA who just entered a week ago! They are busy in their art and craft shop, making some pretty wood products and doing a lot of painting. Chiara just finished restoring an old statue of the Blessed Mother that will go in a little corner of the property which will become a prayer corner. For the last week we have had Lindsay’s father spending time there with his daughter. He’s been doing a bunch of repairs and making a little grotto for the Blessed Mother. He is very knowledgeable and very kind, and the girls have been keeping him very busy. It is good for the girls to be around his gentleness. I am sure his patience had been tested, but it has been very good for him to be able to spend this time with Lindsey. Time like these moments in Community will never come again because life is so busy outside that it doesn’t allow for a couple weeks of focused time just father and daughter. A great surprise arrived for Steven and Will because they were transfered to Italy. They are in the house of Casaleggio for right now. Like we do in Community, it was a total secret. They were so surprised. When they got past the shock, they were very happy for this new phase of their journey and happy to face all the new challenges involved!
We keep having guys on orientation every week, and we have the month of June already all booked. In Italy our priests and consecrated sisters and brothers are on retreat with Mother Elvira to prepare for Pentecost and to renew their vows. About the festival of life in Italy please check the website to get more info about it: http://fdvita-en.weebly.com/index.html. Click on the different tabs that are close to the home tab, and you will find a bunch of information. We are trying to count how many people will be there from the States, so please notify your Regional Contact to let them know how many will be going! Time is getting close and will pass quickly. Also please continue to help and support our Community with what you can, because our family keeps on growing. We trust God’s living divine providence completely, and you are part of it! Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Ciao
