Prayer to Saint Benedict
Saint Benedict,
you gave yourself completely to God
and by your example of faith and love
for God, you have awoken in many generous souls
an ideal of the monastic life.
Father of monks, you transmitted to your children
the joy of living in prayer, contemplation,
and community life, all for the glory of God
and the salvation of souls.
Help us too who are in the middle of life's difficulties
to know how to find time for silence,
to be able to listen to the voce of God,
and to give time to prayer
to allow God to act in us,
and to live work with joy as an expression
of the gifts God has given to us.
Saint Benedict, your faith was powerful
against the attacks of the evil one:
protect our lives against the traps of the enemy,
make us strong in temptation
and help us at the hour of our death.
Saint Benedict, friend of God, and our friend,
teach us to guard and live
the peace in our hearts in every moment of our lives.
Saint Benedict, pray for us!
